The inaugural conference of the Edvard Grieg Society of the Great Lakes in Goshen (Indiana) is dedicated to Edvard Grieg and his admiration for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, including recitals, lectures, and a pre-college piano competition. A complete conference schedule is forthcoming, and will be uploaded here. EGSOGL is grateful to the sponsors of this inaugural conference: The Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Goshen College and the Goshen College Music Center, and the American-Scandinavian Foundation!

The EGSOGL is delighted to host many experts on Grieg, Mozart, and Scandinavian music for the SalzBergen conference:

  • Njål Sparbo, bass-baritone: 2009 Grieg Prize winner and eminent singer in Scandinavia
  • William Halverson, scholar: eminent English translator of Grieg’s writings and song texts and Vice-President of the Edvard Grieg Society of America
  • Amy Kauffman, violinist: Metropolitan Opera Orchestra
  • Mimmi Fulmer, soprano: Scandinavian scholar and decorated American soprano
  • Marvin Blickenstaff, adjudicator: leading piano pedagogue, editor of a volume of Grieg’s Lyric Pieces
  • Gregory Martin, scholar and pianist: Invited to lecture and perform at the Grieg Academy (Bergen), scholarly articles on Grieg’s Ballade
  • Luke Norell, pianist: Goshen College Community School of the Arts
  • Mary Rose Norell, pianist: Goshen College Community School of the Arts
